Ever feel like you may be the only person living with scoliosis? Well, lucky for you that’s not true. Scoliosis affects 2-3 percent of the population, or an estimated 6 to 9 million people in the United States alone. Here is my list of 31 famous people with scoliosis.

  1. My, my; that was very interesting. I would never have known, had it not been for watching the images. What enormous resilience these people have. I appreciate, from reading your posts, the daily challenges involved living with scoliosis. I now have a new found respect for those silently suffering, which is extended to those you’ve portrayed. Thank You for this.

    1. Thank you Carolyn! A big part of why I do this is to create more awareness about scoliosis, so I’m very glad to hear that you like the blog and that it helps share the knowledge and understanding of this condition. Thanks again for reading and stay tuned for more!

      1. I have knowingly had Scoliosis from the age of 12 1/2. My mother was a nurse & in 1967 the surgery was pretty rough with 6 mths in a body cast & 1/2 of 1 leg in a cast. Therefore, I wore a specially made Milwaukee Brace. Most everyone thought I had broken my neck. It’s a lousy time for a young teen to go through. Unfortunately my curve about 10 yrs ago was at 65°. I thank God I was never in a serious car wreck or likewise as I’ve met ppl who were & they had a lot of compounded problems. Wow, I had no idea there were so many of us brave souls!

  2. And also King Richard III of England – he had quite a severe scoliosis and yet was able to ride, charge and fight (extremely effectively). He was found in 2012 after his burial place had been ‘lost’ for 500 years and he has certainly raised awareness of scoliosis in the UK.

    1. Yes! That’s right! You mentioned that in a different comment and I totally did not connect the fact that I should add him to this post. I will update the post and add him as well. Who knows, we might one day hit 100 famous people with scoliosis! Sorry for taking forever to respond. I’ve been in FL with my family and I had to step away for a few days to SF for a funeral. Hope you had a lovely new year!

  3. Chris Hemsworth also has scoliosis, I have noticed. It’s not like I have oogling him shirtless or anything 😜. Mid-thoracic and lumbar region. Look at him now – he is the epitomy of health and fitness. I haven’t found it mentioned anywhere else but it’s just my own personal observation since I have studied the spine, scoliosis, and spinal deformities/conditions. Scoliosis is like that – once you see it in someone, you can’t unsee it or see anything else right? 😂
